Newly-public Chuy’s Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ CHUY) recently reported that eight new locations had opened last year, contributing to a 32.2% increase in revenue. The company plans to open eight to nine new restaurants in 2013 and expand into new states and markets, including OH, the Carolinas, VA, and MO.
The restaurants offer Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine, featuring a variety of homemade sauces made daily in each restaurant, a full-service bar, a variety of Mexican folk art, and a “Nacho Car” that provides complimentary chips, salsa and chile con queso in the trunk of a classic car. The locations range in size from 5,300 square feet to 12,500 square feet and seat 225-400 customers.
In a recent interview with Nation’s Restaurant News, CEO Steve Hislop noted that the company is currently considering 55 new sites in all existing and new markets for 2014 and would like to extend its development pipeline to 2015.
