What's New with Holt Renfrew

Holt Renfrew & Co. announced it will open a flagship store in the spring of 2016 at Square One shopping center in Mississauga, Ontario. The store, at 120,000 square feet, is part of the company’s aggressive growth plan which will result in a 40% expansion of the company’s total square footage. Holt Renfrew is a chain of high-end department stores in Canada and its stores average approximately 35,000 to 60,000 square feet.

The company currently operates ten stores under the Holt Renfrew name. Its eleventh store is the company’s new lower-price concept called hr2. A second hr2 stores is set to open in mid-May at Ontario’s Vaughan Mills shopping center. The new hr2 location will offer over 23,000 square feet of retail space. The first hr2 location in Brossard, Quebec is 24,500 square feet. The typical hr2 store will average 23,000 to 30,000 square feet.

For its larger concept stores the company announced a number of Holt Renfrew locations will be renovated and expanded, with some completely rebuilt. A location in north Toronto is currently undergoing an expansion, doubling in size to over 120,000 square feet. The first newly renovated store will open later this year with the completion of Holt Renfrew in Yorkdale.

Holt Renfrew stores offer an assortment of womenswear, menswear, footwear, accessories, beauty products and jewelry and have long been known for the shopping experience. In fact the company celebrated its 175^th anniversary last September. The company’s roots go back to 1837 when it was originally a fur shop.
