The retailer also fared well as per its recently announced fiscal year-end, annual financials.  Net annual sales increased 10.2% to $507.6 million compared with $460.6 million for its previous fiscal year.  Comparable store sales for fiscal 2014, including e-commerce sales, increased 6.1% compared with a 0.5% increase in fiscal 2013. The Company opened 34 stores while closing 14 during fiscal 2014 and ended the fiscal year with 344 retail locations.

Founder Carl Kirkland continues to exert influence over the company, years after his retirement.  Mr. Kirkland maintains a seat on the board of directors as an independent director.  He continues to go to his office a couple of times a week.  His lengthy, updated company summary, A Note from our Founder, warmly greets investors and shoppers alike on the corporate website.
