Frederick’s of Hollywood Group recently filed Chapter 11. The news comes immediately after the company closed all of its 94 stores and entered into an agreement to sell its online business, inventory and intellectual property to Authentic Brands Group LLC. The retailer of sexy lingerie cited competition and decreased mall traffic.

Frederick’s of Hollywood was the first company to introduce black lingerie to the United States and would soon introduce the world’s first push-up bra. The retailer was founded in 1946 during World War II.  For decades the women’s intimate apparel company was known for its trendsetting and its reputation of flattering women of all sizes. Through the 1980’s Fredericks of Hollywood was the market leader, until it was overtaken by Victoria’s Secret.
