Earlier this month the Nordstrom Inc. announced Blake Nordstrom, Pete Nordstrom and Erik Nordstrom as Co-Presidents of the company. The three executives retain their current roles and responsibilities and will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors. Having multiple Presidents is not common practice for most retailers, but for this family owned and operated company it makes sense. Retaining family leadership can help ensure consistency.

Nordstrom Inc. is a leading apparel specialty retailer. The company began in 1901 as a shoe retailer and has since expanded its offerings to include apparel, accessories, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics, and fragrances. Select Nordstrom stores also have wedding and home furnishing departments. The company plans to open five full-line stores (including two in Canada) and 27 Nordstrom Rack stores, in fiscal 2015.
