Loblaw subsidiary Shoppers Drug Mart had a mixed first quarter in 2017, owing largely to a change in timing of the New Year and Easter holidays hitting the company’s books and its effects on front of store sales. That said, same-store sales at the front of the store were still up 0.6% while same-store pharmacy sales were up 1.3%. Excluding the unfavorable calendar effects, overall same-store sales were +2.5%, a number CSG sees as more indicative of SDM’s performance for the remainder of the year.
