• Tops Markets LLC (15) has promoted Matthew Hamed to the position of Director of Pharmacy.
• Vitamin Shoppe Industries (67) has announced the resignation of Exec VP and CFO, Brenda Galgano. Succeeding her is Bill Wafford.
• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. (145) announced it plans to open a new office in Chicago in fall 2019 where it anticipates 1,800 people will be based.
• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. has replaced General Electric in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
• Benzer Pharmacy finalized the purchase of Drug World Pharmacy in Amenia, NY. The acquisition marks the company’s entry into the state of New York.
• McKesson Corp. announced that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Medical Specialties Distributors.
• Metro Inc. has completed the acquisition of The Jean Coutu Group Inc., with 419 franchised drug stores. Under the acquisition, The Jean Coutu Group becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Metro, combining all of its pharmacy operations.
• CVS Health announced it is expanding the availability of its prescription delivery to now be available in all of its locations throughout the country.
• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. is opening a new 7,600 square foot location in the Mall of America in Bloomington, MN.
• Thrifty White Drug Stores Inc. said its pharmacies will soon be powered by PrescribeWellness’ technology. The company will use PrescribeWellness’ platform to offer clinical services, enhance patients’ experiences and offer comprehensive patient engagement and support services.
