Kroger Eliminating Plastic Bags

But the change will be gradual. Late last week, the company announced that it would begin phasing out single-use plastic bags as part of its “Zero Hunger-Zero Waste” initiative in favor of more sustainable options like paper bags – and reusable bags available for purchase in store. Its goal is to have phased out single-use plastic in all of its banners by 2025. The company currently distributes 6 billion of the bags each year.

First up is QFC (Quality Food Centers), the Bellevue, WA-based banner, and its 80+ stores. Kroger stated that QFC’s transition should be completed by 2019.

If bags are your business, Chain Store Guide can help. Our Supermarket, Grocery and Convenience Store Chains Database contains information for 240+ Kroger personnel, including more than 50 individuals within its purchasing, supply chain and buying departments. All in, the database offers our clients access to more than 24,000 personnel across 2,700+ companies within the supermarket and C-store industries.
