CVS, Powered by Teledoc, Increases Video Visits

Last week, CVS, under the auspices of MinuteClinic, the company’s retail medical clinic with more than 1,100 locations, expanded its virtual healthcare program to New Mexico and Wyoming. Designed for consumers with minor illnesses and injuries, the MinuteClinic Video Visits initiative, leveraging a platform developed by Teledoc, is one of the many strategies employed by CVS to expand its reach deeper into the healthcare industry.

The program is now available in 18 states and DC. For $59, users are provided with a health questionnaire in advance of a video-enabled visit with a board-certified health care provider licensed in their state. If needed, prescriptions are written and submitted to the patient’s pharmacy. Currently, the visits aren’t part of insurance coverage, but we expect CVS to lay that strand in its healthcare web in 2019, as well as expand the program to additional states.

If it’s your business to know the technology infrastructure and operations of drug stores and healthcare companies, Chain Store Guide’s leads databases can put you in contact with thousands of executives and decisions makers.
