Busy Beaver, a Pennsylvania based hardware company, announced a new opening in Calcutta, Ohio on May 25 with a grand opening on June 1. This location is the latest in a string of new stores and planned openings the company has set in motion. In 2018, five new units opened throughout Pennsylvania, with several more in the works for 2019. If all goes according to plan, Busy Beaver will end the year with a total of twenty-five stores.
Founded in 1962, Busy Beaver began its expansion in the 70’s to bring full-service home improvement centers to communities across Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Over the last several years, the company has been slowly opening new locations. Busy Beaver is a $50M company with a standard operating space of 35,000 sq/ft. The new Ohio store will be the largest store to date, operating at 60,000 sq/ft. If the planned openings in Pennsylvania follow suit, it will open the way for new suppliers to get their products on the shelves; Busy Beaver will have nearly 25,000 extra sq/ft of selling space that will need to be filled.
