• Casey’s General Stores Inc. (103) announced Brad Haga has joined the company as VP of Merchandising. The company also announced Bill Walljasper, Senior VP and CFO, will retire later this year.

• McLane Company, Inc. (21) announced it has promoted Jeff Hayes to VP of Sales and Business Development of McLane Foodservice.

• Parkland Fuel Corporation (44) announced Jay Erickson, who recently left his position as President of EG America LLC, has joined the company as VP of Information Technology and CIO.

 

Industry Insight

• Amazon.com Inc. opened its first Amazon Go Grocery in its hometown of Seattle, WA. The concept is a small-format supermarket offering fresh meat and produce, local favorites, ready-to-go meals and traditional groceries to shoppers with the cashierless convenience the company created for its Amazon Go grab-and-go stores.

• Hy-Vee Inc. is restructuring store-level management and ceasing 24-hour operation at most stores.

 

Real Estate

• 7-Eleven Inc. is opening new stores in its “evolution” store format and plans to continue to expand the concept across the country in 2020.

 

Technology News

• 7-Eleven Inc. has opened its first cashierless store at its corporate headquarters in Irving. During the pilot, the 700 square foot non-traditional store is available to 7-Eleven employees.

• Bumgarner Oil Co. is partnering with Advanced Digital Data Inc., which will serve as the software provider for both its convenience stores and its retail and wholesale fuel business.
