• Fresh Encounter Inc., Plum Market, Robert Resources LLC and Stew Leonard’s recently announced new partnerships with DoorDash to offer grocery delivery.
• The Fresh Market Inc. recently opened a new 25,000 sq. ft. store in Louisville, KY.
• Heritage Grocers Group has named Suzy Monford as its new CEO. She replaces Doug Sanders who has left the company.
• Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, Inc. plans to close one of its two store locations in Tucson, AZ, this week.
• Nugget Market Inc. plans to open two new grocery stores in California next year.
• United Natural Foods Inc. plans to relocate its corporate headquarters to downtown Providence, RI, in the summer of 2025.
• Weis Markets Inc. announced that Doug Becker was promoted to VP Fresh Merchandising. Angela Charnosky was promoted to VP Enterprise Services. Autumn Wolfe was promoted to Senior Director, Accounting, Tax, and Treasury. Candi Thomas was promoted to Director, Program Management. Valerie Seipp was promoted to Director, Financial Analytics, Budgeting and External Reporting.
Retail
• Capri Holdings Limited announced John Idol as the new CEO of Michael Kors.
• CVS Health announced that Len Shankman has been hired as President, Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness. Lucille Accetta has been named as the retailer’s new Chief Pharmacy Officer.
• David’s Bridal started a new partnership with DoorDash to offer delivery of its dresses, shoes and accessories in under an hour.
• Do it Best Corp. has promoted Ty Sordelet to VP of Logistics.
• Dollar Tree Stores Inc. announced the departure of its CFO, Jeff Davis.
• Dunn-Edwards Corporation reported that Karl Altergott is retiring from his role as President and CEO in February 2025. Monte Lewis has been named as the new CEO, effective March 1, 2025.
• Five Below Inc. announced it has hired Winnie Park as its new CEO.
• Nike Inc. announced G. Scott Uzzell, VP and General Manager of North America, has left the company.
Restaurant
• BurgerFi has sold its assets from both BurgerFi and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza to TREW Capital Management Private Credit 2 LLC as part of their bankruptcy proceedings. CEO Carl Bachman has left his role and joined TREW Capital Management.
• Chipotle has raised their menu prices by 2% nationwide. The company blames the increase on inflation and this is the first time they have increased prices nationwide since October 2023.
• McDonald’s is currently facing an outage of expresso machines at many of their restaurants. The supplier of the machines noted a potential safety risk and had many of the machines decommissioned. It is not known how widespread the issue is or when it will be fixed.
• Portillo’s has named Tony Darden as COO. The company also opened their first “Restaurant of the Future” in Texas. The new format features a smaller footprint and double drive thru lanes.
• Red Robin has received an $8.3 million investment to aid in paying down their debt.
• Smalls Sliders is suing competitor Smashburger over a trademark dispute. Smashburger recently changed their S logo and now Smalls is claiming that it looks to similar to their own logo.
• Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol has moved his focus to wait time optimization at restaurants. Through new technology he aims to get customers their coffee orders in under 30 seconds.
• White Castle has revamped their online merchandise store to include new items for the holidays.
