Walmart.com and Advance Auto Parts have partnered in a deal that will lead to a new automotive specialty store under the Advanced Auto Parts banner on Walmart.com. With a planned launch in the first half of 2019, it seems that details have yet to be finalized, but expect to see in store pickup to play a large role in the omnichannel partnership.
The Advanced Auto Parts deal is the latest development in what has become a major component of Walmart’s ecommerce strategy – thwart Amazon by building its own retail ecosystem on Walmart.com that leverages acquired brands and partnerships to create a range of storefronts, as we noted earlier this year in relation to the apparel industry.
CSGs Discount, Dollar & Specialty Stores Database contains detailed company data for both Walmart and Advanced Auto Parts, along with nearly 4,000 other companies across 17 discount and specialty categories including auto aftermarket retail, consumer electronics, crafts, housewares, pets and toys.
