Personnel Updates

• Coolgreens (9) has appointed Mary Beth McGehee to the newly created position of VP of Business Development.

• Del Taco Restaurants Inc. (34) has appointed Tim Hackbardt as Chief Marketing Officer.

• Taco Bell Corp. (51) has announced that Nikki Lawson will be joining the company as Global Chief Brand Officer.

 

Financial Focus

• SD Holdings has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. They are currently planning to sell their 73 Sonic locations back to Sonic Corp. It is still unclear what will happen to their 3 Fuzzy Tacos locations and their 14 MOD Pizza locations.

 

Real Estate

• Another Broken Egg of America Inc. has opened a new location in Flowood, MS.

• Crave Hot Dogs & Barbecue opened a new location in Summerwood, TX.

• Curry Up Now has opened its 11th location in Sacramento, CA.

• MOOYAH Franchise LLC has announced that it is opening a new location in Hoover, AL. This location will also be the first restaurant to feature the company’s re-designed interior.

• Mountain Mike’s Pizza has opened a new location in Redding, CA.

• The Lost Cajun is opening a new location in Mount Juliet, TN.

 

Technology

• CaliBurger, LLC is reporting a successful testing of its new burger automation system. Certain restaurants are outfitted with a robotic arm named Flippy that takes care of all burger grilling orders along with ordering kiosks that uses facial recognition. Flippy is designed to create a consistent product and allow employees to spend more time with customers. So far the tests have been a success for the burger chain and they may implement the technology in future stores.
