Back to School Strikes Again

Second to the December holidays, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. For back-to-school retailers, that is. Although companies have been preparing and stocking up for months, it’s in the heat of the season that the fun begins. According to a joint survey by Sears and BlogHer, Inc. nearly two-thirds of parents are inclined to spend more on items such as jeans, tops and shoes, for this school year versus last year.

Though parents may be spending more, they will also be using more ads, circulars, and loyalty programs to track deals. With consumer confidence still lacking, people are looking for value. With almost one-third of parents citing denim as a primary item they would spend more on, two-thirds of them plan to keep costs down by spending less than $50 a pair.
