Last month, Rite Aid launched its telehealth station, HealthSpot, inside 25 locations in Ohio. Rite Aid’s Exec VP Pharmacy Robert Thompson explained, “This first-of-its-kind model pairs licensed healthcare providers with state-of-the-art technology to deliver a truly unique solution to consumers looking for convenient and quality healthcare.”
Through cloud-based telemedicine software, HealthSpot allows users to interact with health providers in a private, 40-square foot station using high-definition videoconferencing and interactive medical devices. The HealthSpot stations are supported by trained wellness attendants who help the patient, from check-in to check-out. Customers ages 3 and older can be treated for minor and common health conditions, including cold and flu, rashes and skin conditions, eye conditions, earaches, and seasonal allergies. The software platform also interfaces with insurance eligibility, electronic medical records, and billing services.
The HealthSpot stations are located inside select Rite Aid pharmacies in Akron/Canton, Cleveland, and Dayton/Springfield. Rite Aid has over 200 locations in Ohio and over 4,500 locations in the Unites States. The top drug retailer plans to remodel another 400 stores this year and continues to open its in-store health clinics called RediClinic.
